Department of Mathematics and Nagpur University Mathematics Teacher’s Association (NUMTA) organized a release function of short film documentary “Euler’s Spoiler: a Living Legend” on Dr. S. S. Shrikhande. Film conceived produced and directed by Dr. A. S. Muktibodh, Ex. Professor and Head department of Mathematics, Shri Mathuradas Mohota College of Science, Nagpur on 9th August 2018. Dr. Siddhartha P. Kane, Vice Chancellor RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur was chief guest on this occasion.

15th Vaidya - Raychaudhari Endowment Award Lecturer on 7th January 2014
The Department of Mathematics has organized 15th Vaidya - Raychaudhari Endowment Award Lecturer on 7th January 2014 in the College conference Hall. Prof. M. Sami, Director, Centre for Theoretical Physics, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi was the main speaker. The topic of his lecture was “Why is Universe so dark?” Prof. M. Sami highlighted many facts about the universe and existence. He described the Big Bang Theory and other alternative theories related to it. Through power point he presented the facts about universe in his lecturer. This was very informative & knowledgeable to the students.

International Conference on Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) 2012
Year 2012 was declared as National Mathematics Year by the Prime Minister of India in the memory of Great Mathematician Shrinivasa Ramanujan. On the eve of this our department has organized an International Conference on Mathematical Sciences during 28th to 31st Dec. 2012.The aim of the conference was to provide a common platform to the researchers working in various sub-disciplines of Mathematical Sciences around the world.
The conference was inaugurated on 28th December 2012 at the hands of Padmashri Dr Vijay Bhatkar, the renowned and notable personality in the field of computer and Information technology. Complete schedule of the conference was organized in such a fashion that the participants would not feel disconcerted in any way. There were around 334 participants who actively participated in the deliberations of the conference out of which 20 participants were from abroad.
Total 29 speakers were called in this conference for plenary and invited talk session, which includes 10 speakers from abroad. 20 participants from 13 countries belong to the reputed Institutions in USA, South Africa, Spain, Russia, Hungary, Bangladesh, Botswana, Iraq, Egypt, Alegeria, Ukrainian, Thialand, and Jordan. In all 360 research papers associated with the theme of conference were read by the participants. We categorized the paper presentation session in four different categories. The main area of Mathematics had sum of 194 papers, Relativity 77 papers, Physics 21 papers and Statistics 64 papers. The conference was a grand success.
Guest lecture
On the eve of National Year of Mathematics, the Mathematics Department of Shivaji Science college, Nagpur had organized One Day Seminar on Contributions of Indian Mathematicians on 11th Sept. 2012. The Guest Speakers for this was Dr. Anant Vyawahare, Ex. Head, Dept. of Mathematics, M.M. Science College, Nagpur and Mrs. Aruna Shobhane, Department of Mathematics, Dinanath Junior College, Nagpur Dr. A. W. Vyawahare, eminent expert of Indian Mathematics, in his lecture elaborated the work done by Indian Mathematicians in particular Shrinivasa Ramanujan. He further showed link between works of ancient and contemporary Mathematicians.
Inter-Collegiate Mathematics Quiz 2012-2013
Two teams of three students of B.Sc. I, II, III participated in the Intercollegiate Mathematics Quiz Competition organized by Shivaji Science College, Nagpur on 10th Jan. 2013 in which our team of students Gajanan Mankar (B. Sc. III) Shardul mahure (B. Sc. II) and Namrata ThakreB. Sc. I bagged First prize.
