DEPARTMENT of ELECTRONICS

ABOUT DEPARTMENT

The Department of Electronics came into existence in the academic session 1984-85 with intake of 40 students at B.Sc. Part I level. During the course, the Department is augmented with 3 full time teachers, 1 contributory teacher and 2 laboratory attendants.

COURSE INTRODUCTION

Our college is single faculty Science College and first in Nagpur University to introduce Electronics as one of the recent and modern subject at undergraduate level to cater the need of students in Vidarbha region.

DEPARTMENT FEATURES

The Department has well equipped laboratory. The staff is working hard in designing and fabricating the experimental modules in the laboratory, in turn saved huge amount of expenditure on readymade experimental modules. The Department is recipient of special UGC grant of Rs. 5 Lac under the scheme of restructuring of courses.

The Department received permanent affiliation from Nagpur University in 1994. We organize class seminars, group discussions and project exhibitions for the enrichment of knowledge of the students. Students are given work-shop practice and project work during their practical sessions. This activity encourages and develops the skill in the students about designing and repairing of the instrument.

Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University has introduced Semester pattern since the academic session 2013-14. As per the guidelines of University the Department carries out the internal assessment of the students by conducting class tests, surprise tests and unit tests. The students are also given home assignments and then Contact programs are arranged to improve their performance.

The Department has Electronics Society for the benefit of students. The staff members have been working hard for qualitative improvement of the student, as an outcome large number of student secures distinction class and first division in university examination. The staff members pay special attention to academically backward as well as advance learners and are provided with necessary help and guidance.

Teachers have active participation in seminar, orientation courses, refresher courses, social activities, National Service Scheme and University work.

The faculty members pursue research in the field of their interest and have International / National refereed journal publications to their credit. The faculty members are research supervisor and students are pursuing research under their supervision.

At the beginning of the every academic session a Departmental meeting is conveyed by Head of the Department. The results of previous university examination are discussed and strategy to take corrective measures for improvement of result is decided. The curriculum and workload is distributed among faculty members. The teaching plan prepared in such a way that, teaching work is completed prior to university examination, if necessary extra classes are also conducted to complete the curriculum. The teachers have regular discussions related to curriculum of the subject. The teaching and non-teaching staffs have cordial relation.

The activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the Department are:

  • To impart quality education to the students.
  • Linking education to emerging career pattern.
  • To achieve global standard of excellence, training and research.
  • Developing skills in hardware engineering and electronics ensuring optimum utilization of facility.
  • Making education more students centric.

The Department has maintained an excellent result for B. Sc. Final examination of RTM Nagpur University. The result of B. Sc. Final (Electronics) year students is above 90 % since its inception.

The Department constituted subject society known as “Electronics Society” of students. The aims and objectives of Electronics Society are:

To develop and nourish the basic qualities hidden in an individual like leadership, decision making, stage daring, independent thinking etc.

To bridge the gap between teachers and students as well as junior and senior students.

The society has organized various activities such as inauguration of the society, Teachers’ Seminar, Students’ Seminar and farewell Function for B. Sc. Final Year Students.
