Participative Learning Initiatives by the Chemistry Department
The Chemistry Department at Shivaji Science College, Nagpur, is committed to fostering participative learning through various student-centric activities. These initiatives are designed to actively engage students, enhance their practical skills, and promote collaborative learning.
Making Craft Colorimeter and Students as an Resource Person in Other College :
On March 13, 2024, Kamla Nehru Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur, in collaboration with Shri Shivaji Science College, Nagpur, organized a one-day hands-on training session on "Low-Cost Colorimeter Design Using a Craft Box and Smartphone Application for Color Analysis and Concentration Measurements." This innovative training program was notable for featuring two college students as resource persons, marking the first time students have led such a session for both students and faculty members.
Intercollegiate Seminar Competition:
The department organizes seminar competitions that encourage students to delve into chemical research, present their findings, and engage in intellectual discussions with peers from other colleges. This fosters critical thinking and enhances public speaking skills.
Intercollegiate Workshops:
Workshops on topics like eco-friendly Holi color making and cosmetics production offer hands-on experience in sustainable practices. These workshops not only teach practical skills but also raise awareness about environmentally responsible chemical practices.
Poster Competitions on Ozone Day:
To commemorate Ozone Day, the department arranges poster competitions where students creatively express their understanding of ozone layer protection and environmental conservation. This activity nurtures creativity and reinforces the importance of environmental stewardship.
