Experimental Learning in Chemistry: Water Testing Kit & Craft Colorimeter
The Chemistry Department is committed to providing hands-on, experiential learning opportunities for students. As part of this initiative, the department has developed an innovative water testing kit that allows students to measure 15 essential water quality parameters directly in the field. This practical experience enhances their understanding of real-world applications of laboratory techniques and equips them with valuable skills in environmental monitoring.
Additionally, the department has created a Craft Colorimeter with smart phone application for fast calculations, a low-cost educational tool designed to help students grasp the fundamental concepts of colorimetry. By building and using the Craft Colorimeter, students can explore the principles of light absorption and concentration measurements, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
These projects exemplify the department's dedication to fostering an interactive and engaging learning environment, where students can actively apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.
