1. Career in Molecular Biology and its applications
On 26th September 2023, Shri Mathuradas Mohota College of Science hosted a guest lecture organized by the Department of Microbiology in collaboration with the Department of Botany. The lecture, titled "Career in Molecular Biology Techniques and Its Applications," was specifically aimed at undergraduate students of Microbiology and M.Sc. Botany. The session, delivered by Dr. Pranita Gulhane from Shivaji Science College, Congress Nagar, Nagpur, provided an in-depth exploration of the various career paths available in the field of molecular biology. Dr. Gulhane emphasized the significance of molecular techniques in advancing scientific research and their practical applications across various industries. Students were introduced to cutting-edge technologies such as CRISPR, gene sequencing, and bioinformatics, and learned how these tools are revolutionizing fields like medicine, agriculture, and environmental science.

2. Popular Science lecture on "Vaccnes injecting Hope"
On 7th December 2023, the Raman Science Centre in Nagpur hosted an engaging Popular Science lecture titled "Vaccines: Injecting Hope" for school students. The session aimed to deepen students' understanding of vaccines and their vital role in public health. Dr. Pranita Gulhane from Shivaji Science College’s Department of Microbiology, an expert in the field, delivered a clear and accessible overview of how vaccines work, their development, and their role in disease prevention. Using interactive demonstrations and real-life examples, she made complex concepts understandable for the young audience. The event also featured a lively Q&A session, allowing students to ask questions and discuss the importance of vaccines. 3. Microbiology workshop on "Explore the World of Microbes & Superbugs"
Dr. Pranita Gulhane from Shivaji Science College, Nagpur, led a workshop titled "Explore the World of Microbes & Superbugs" at the Raman Science Centre, Nagpur, aimed at school students. The workshop sought to spark interest in microbiology by demonstrating the use of microbiological media in identifying pathogens. Students had the chance to work with various culture media plates, observe microbial growth, and learn about sterile techniques. The session also addressed the issue of antibiotic-resistant superbugs, highlighting the need for responsible antibiotic use.
